I Have Not Posted Here Much Lately

Sun Dec 7, 2008, 6:26 AM
I have not posted much here lately. Mostly due to the fact that I have forgotten about my deviant art page. Infact I have been posting more on my blog on Antlair then I have here.
Antlair for anyone who is interested: [link]

Infact, if Deviant allowed me to sync my journal here to antlair useing RSS I'd have more posts on my journal here hehe.

On Antlair I post my stories, second life stuff and work in progress stuff amoungst other things.

On other news, I will most likely be getting Terragen 2 soon.

Nearly Forgot One Blog But Re-Discovered Anothe

Fri Sep 19, 2008, 4:49 AM
What can I say, I nearly forgot about my blog here on Deviant Art but I did re-discover my old blog on Antlair which I have been a bit busy with getting back on track. I will use it to post stuff that I can't post on here such as works in progress, random stuff and funny pics.

I am working on a couple of websites at the moment, one needs the code done and the other needs a half decent layout.

Unfortunatly I have been way too busy and am starting to feel the stress of it all but I will be takeing a break soon luckely which should help things a lot for me. And if I avoid takeing any more work untill I get my current projects finished things should improve a lot for me.

I will work on another terragen 2 scene when I get an idea, am in the mood to do so and am not too busy to do so

Sorry about a lack of updates

Fri Aug 1, 2008, 3:45 AM
Sorry for the lack of updates. My good rendering computer is in the coldest part of the house and it is the middle of winter and my laptop is not quite upto the task of rendering an image without over heating.

Second Life does run on my laptop so I have been a bit busy inworld building and scripting. My current project is a system that uses a PHP/MySQL backend to store data in a persistant manor that is not lost if a sim goes down or a script is reset.

I have just done a quick terragen scene seeing how I spent the day on the computer I use for rendering.

For thoes of you who have Second Life you may see what I have been working on by clicking this link. [link] In Second Life I am known as Mills Gazov.

I have decided to not renew my print account here. Haveing sold no prints at all and being in a tight fiancial situation I decided that I don't need the prints account.
I have converted a few of my terrains into prefab terrains for Second Life regions and have noticed that they sold well hence part of the reason for my lack of posting scenes here.

The rest of the reasons for my lack of posting is that my good rendering computer is in the coldest part of my house, I am atempting to learn PHP and MySQL codeing and I am working on a science fiction story.

Kinda Busy + Rant on The Web Hosting Industry

Wed Apr 23, 2008, 8:25 PM
Just an update as I haven't had one in a while. I have been a bit busy with my business.
I have done some terragen work, Cosmic Calamity and Blue Sun which are both deviations from my normal terragen style, Cosmic Calamity is a crater scene where as Blue Sun is bathed in light from a blue super giant star.

I am atempting to write a story useing the back story of Blue Sun as a base, it is about the refugees who flee their homeworld due to a blue star moveing into their solar system.

On the work front I have started a web hosting business. I am in the process of marketing at the moment and I have noticed a large problem in the industry, Over selling.

Over selling is where a web host offers plans with more resources then they can provide.
An example of an over seller is someone who offers 100GB of HDD space and 1000GB of bandwidth for US$10 per month. Over selling hosts make their money from craming as many people as possible onto a server and hope that people don't use anywhere near their limits. If a client of an over seller starts to aproch their limit they are often suspended for the reason "Abuseing server resources"

The cost price for such a plan is usually around US$100 per month from a reputable datacenter.

Now back onto the topic of art, I am woundering if I should work on the story, do some sketches or make a new terragen scene.

April 1st update

Tue Apr 1, 2008, 4:06 AM
Today is the first of april and I don't feel like posting an april fools joke, feeling too lazy to. I have started a web hosting business which is takeing a lot of my time combined with my tech college IT course. I have done a little terragen work but not enough to satisfy any of you here so I am going to try and rectify that.

My web hosting business will be primarilary targeting the Australian small business market and I will offer mainly web hosting plans although email only plans and streaming media plans may be ordered depending on the demmand that I receive for them. My biggest issue is my procrastination, I go to work on the site then get distracted by everything else.

On the Terragen front I have done a little work but not much, I have made a new island terrain for Second Life that I have decided to sell, it features a couple of beaches and some nice areas to build on. I have considered doing some other terragen work which I am going to atempt, I need to post things for everyone here to enjoy.
